This is a notably well-kept and early Epiphone Casino from Japan's Terada factory, ready for stage and studio use.2014 Epiphone Casino Cherry Upgrades w/Hard Case Cosmetically, the Cherry gloss finish is extremely clean, with just a few light scattered finish scratches in the clear coat on the back, but shy of 'buckle rash.' The orange oval label visible through the F hole has the correct five digit serial for Terada factory Japan production (, 7 for Casino - when it was still a special order model, and a trio of digits for production number). The nickel ABR-1 bridge, trapeze tailpiece, and pickup covers have light, uniform surface patina for a perfect vintage look. The electronics are untouched, with nickel pickup covers on the P-90s and gold reflector cap knobs on the Volume and Tone controls. The headstock retains the Kluson-style nickel tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The nut measures 1 9/16' in width and is a hand-carved piece of bone for optimal clarity and sustain. The frets have great height and meat, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The rosewood fretboard retains original medium jumbo fretwire with vintage-spec fret edge binding, and the guitar plays cleanly up the neck with no buzzing or dead spots and a responsive truss rod, ideally set for low action in all registers. The neck has a notably slender and fast-feeling C shaped profile with moderate increase in profile depth as you travel up the bound rosewood fretboard. Weighing in at only 6lbs 9oz, we've had this Casino professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and dialed in for optimal action and intonation with 10-46 strings. Perfect for bold cleans or overdriven sizzle, these pickups take full advantage of both the snappy attack of the maple body and the warmth of the fully hollow construction. Faithfully replicating mid '60s spec, the P-90s have plenty of bark and growl, with a glassy, touch sensitive sound. Finished in a transparent Cherry gloss finish, this is a rare and expertly crafted Epiphone reissue produced in Japan at the Terada factory and predating the 'Elitist' line of instruments.
